Martin Luther King Jr. Day tribute. The Rev. James Lawson, Diane Nash and Earnest “Rip” Patton, who, as leaders in the renowned Nashville Movement of the 1960s employed nonviolent resistance against discrimination that ultimately ended legal segregation in the U.S., are reuniting for a panel discussion to share their experiences and discuss the state of diversity in America today, during Waller’s “It’s Our Turn” Martin Luther King Jr. Day tribute. The discussion will be moderated by John L. Seigenthaler, distinguished journalist, civil rights activist and founder of the First Amendment Center at Vanderbilt University, at the DoubleTree hotel, 11:30 a.m. today.

Deadline for Robertson County Growth and Development Plan Input

Robertson County residents are being asked to provide input on the Robertson County Growth and Development Plan via online survey at RobertsonChamber.org/Growth. Questions range from where new housing should be located to what new industries may be good additions to the local economy. The will give officials a roadmap to guide future growth and development.

    Wine Women & Shoes

    The national charitable event series debuts in Nashville at Grand Avenue, 1-5 p.m. The event, a fund raiser to benefit the YWCA of Nashville & Middle Tennessee, features wine tastings, live and silent auctions and a walk-around boutique Marketplace featuring local and national trendsetters.     Zoo Run Run

    Runners and walkers will embark on a 5K course through Nashville Zoo’s 188-acre property past favorite habitats, like the African Savannah and Flamingo Lagoon, and on roads and trails not normally seen by the public. Proceeds help fund Zoo operations, from education programs for children to feeding more than 2,100 animals. Information and registration: nashvillezoo.org.
