Compressed gas cylinders made in Franklin recalled

Print | Front Page | Email this story

FRANKLIN (AP) - The U.S. Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration has issued an emergency recall of compressed gas cylinders commonly used for propane stoves and other propane-fueled equipment.

The cylinders are manufactured by Franklin-based The Lite Cylinder Company, Inc.

The emergency order was issued after an agency investigation of Lite Cylinder revealed unsafe conditions and practices at the manufacturing plant. The recall affects more than 55,000 of the cylinders. The agency also has prohibited the company from manufacturing more cylinders.

Lite Cylinder has been ordered to immediately contact all cylinder owners and provide instructions about how to safely remove the valve and return the cylinder to the company.
