1. Urgent Team appoints chief financial officer -

Urgent Team, an independent operators of urgent care centers in the Southeast, has named Michael Mauldin as the new chief financial officer.

Most recently, Mauldin was chairman and CEO of Specialty Care, a global provider of specialized outsourced clinical services to hospital surgical suites. Previously he served as: CFO for DSI, a leading dialysis provider, CFO for MedTel International, a multi-national provider of diagnostic imaging, senior VP of operations finance for Renal Care Group, a dialysis company, and CFO for Saint Thomas Hospital.

2. Collier and McKeel whiskey sold to California group -

NASHVILLE (AP) — Tennessee Distilling Co. is selling its brands including Collier and McKeel Tennessee Whiskey to California-based North Coast Spirits.

3. Jack Daniel's opposes changing Tennessee whiskey law -

NASHVILLE (AP) - If it isn't fermented in Tennessee from mash of at least 51 percent corn, aged in new charred oak barrels, filtered through maple charcoal and bottled at a minimum of 80 proof, it isn't Tennessee whiskey. So says a year-old law that resembles almost to the letter the process used to make Jack Daniel's, the world's best-known Tennessee whiskey.

4. Pritchard's Distillery strikes distribution deal -

NASHVILLE (AP) — Pritchard's Distillery has struck a deal with Aveniu Brands to market and distribute its spirits.

Kelso-based Pritchard's became the first legal distillery in Tennessee since Prohibition when it opened in 1997. The company is building a second distillery in Nashville that is expected to begin production by May.

5. Moonshine moves out of the hills and into stores -

NASHVILLE (AP) — Tim Smith, the clandestine star of Discovery's unexpected reality hit "Moonshiners," doesn't have anything against the growing legion of legal distillers who are plying their brands at your local liquor store.

6. Whiskey Town -

A dead moonshine legend, a former state legislator and a 25-year-old English lit major with a blue highlight punctuating blond hair are key ingredients in a spirited “all for one, one for all” growth industry that’s being mashed, cooked, distilled and bottled in a trio of non-descript Nashville warehouses.
